The 55th Annual IMTA Conference was held in Seoul, South Korea
from October 28th till October 31st 2013
and was hosted by the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA).
The venue was the Grand Hilton Seoul Hotel.
130 participants from 24 nations enjoyed the full program with
four parallel tracks including 4 keynotes,
and about 65 paper presentations, symposia and posters.
Since this year, the IMTA operates as an International non-profit Association.
The Association has new bylaws and a new management board
chaired by Ms Susan Truscott, Director General Military Personnel Research and Analysis (Canada).
The IMTA Steering Committee endorsed the nomination of Dr Merle Parmak
for the 2013 Harry H. Greer Award. Dr Parmak represented the Estonian National Defence College during years and
is currently Research Fellow in Military Psychology at the Tallinn University of Technology, Industrial Psycholoy Institute.
The Steering Committee was very pleased to accept two new IMTA members:
- The 'Swedish Armed Forces' represented by Mrs Anne Lindqvist, Chief Military Psychology Swedish Armed Forces
- The 'Turkish Air Force Command Personnel Directorate' represented by Lt Col Dr Mustafa Atalay and Capt Fatih Sahin
The conference also included warm and well attended social events: a ‘Meet and Greet’,
the IBTA and the traditional banquet at the Grand Hilton Seoul Hotel.
A guided tour to the Demilitarized Zone and optional tours after the end of the conference made the week outstanding.
Dr Kwang-Pyo Choi and his great team did an excellent job to make the 55th IMTA conference
a memorable one. Well done everyone!
